Also click here for printable copy of form: This year during the First Annual Westside Youth Athletic Association Spring Carnival May 3 at Westside Middle School, WSYAA will be holding the first ever Glidden Team Colors Home Run Derby Whitfield County  Championship. The event is open to all Whitfield County Youth and parents. Preregistration for the Glidden Team Colors Home Run Derby Event will take place beginning at 9:00 A.M. on the Morning of the Westside Spring Carnival (May 3).  Trophies will be awarded for each age group winner.
The Event will take place from 10:30 to 2:00 on Westside Field 2 and preregistration at the Glidden Team Colors Home Run Derby Carnival Booth is required. Registration will begin at 9:00 A.M. and continue up to the start of competition for each age group. Competition will include T-ball, 7-8 boys, 7-8 girls, 9-10 boys, 9-10 girls, 11-12 boys, 11-12 girls, 13-14 boys, 13-14 Girls, and an "open" competition for parents, grandparents, and other older "kids". All Whitfield County residents are invited to participate. Each registrant will be given 5 outs (machine-pitched balls) for $1 (younger age groups will receive 5 or more) and may register for as many pitched balls (tickets) as they choose. Using "Nationally-standardized" Home Run Derby "League Rules", each hit ball that is not a Home Run is counted as an out. Each age group will have a 5-out (5 or more pitches for younger ages) qualifying round (per ticket) and a Championship round among finalists. Register for Glidden Home Run Derby Online or at the Glidden Home Run Derby Carnival Booth Glidden Team Colors Home Run Derby Rules - Each batter in the Home Run Derby will be allowed 5 outs per $1 ticket.
- Birthdate on May 1st will determine participant age.
- An out shall consist of any pitch that is swung upon and missed, fouled, or hit not out of the ballpark.
- Balls that are batted out of the ballpark (Temporary fence) in fair territory are considered home runs, and are not outs.
- Round One will include all players who purchase $1 tickets (no limit on tickets), but players may use only 1 ticket per at-bat before allowing another batter to hit)
- Championship Round will select the top 5 players with the most Home runs (cumulative from the best single $1 ticket punch) from each age group.
- A player who uses multiple ticket punches may not combine home runs from other ticket punches. Totals are calculated separately for each 5-out punch, but there is no limit to 5-out punches up to the time deadline for the age group.
- Championship round will consist of 10 outs per contender.
- Trophies will be presented to the top player in each age group who hits the most home runs.
- If there is a tie after each player has been allowed 5 outs: 5 outs per remaining player will be allowed; if there is still a tie, 3 outs per remaining player will be allowed until a winner is determined.
- During a tiebreaker, the same rules apply for outs as is described above.
- Trophies will be presented to the top player in each age category that hits the most home runs.
- Ribbons or other awards will be presented 2nd place finishers.
Other Glidden Team Colors Home Run Derby Rules Contest Rules & Regulations - Bats - Any USSSA or ASA approved bat will be allowed.
- Pitchers - All pitches will be supplied by pitching machines which offer a consistent but variable hitting zone. All pitches must be delivered from within the established pitching zone.
- Balls - Dimpled pitching machine balls will be used since these balls provide a true flight path.
- Uniform Requirement - All participants must wear a team uniform. This is a Team Colors Sporting event.
- Event starting Time - The Glidden Team Colors Home Run Derby contest will begin at 10;30 AM or as soon as Field 2 clears from previous game play. All contestants are to report to the First Base dugout area of Field 2 at the beginning of their age groups starting time.
- Hitting Times Plate Appearance / Hitting Times and Final Warm-ups - Glidden Team Colors Home Run Derby will begin with T-ball ages and move upward in age brackets with girls followed by boys in each age bracket.
