| FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE WSYAA Adds 75 Families to MembershipFebruary 10, 2007 The Westside Youth Athletic Association added 76 new families to its list of active Association members during the Feb 5, 6, and 8th registration period. The number of Westside youth teams now number more than 30 (up from 26 in 2006) and about 350 youth registered to participate in Westside athletics (up more than 10% over 2006). While this increase in participation places a greater burden on limited Westside field space, the WSYAA is very pleased that so many families have gotten involved with Westside Youth Athletics. Any youth that missed this registration period should contact one of the Association members for additional sign-up information. Registration for Spring Sports for Westside Youth Athletics reached an all-time high as more volunteers were called in to handle registration demand. While WSYAA membership is optional for children to participate in Westside Youth Programs, many parents showed their support for the Westside fields project by completing the membership application and paying the $10 annual dues. These $10 dues go directly to the purchase of equipment for all youth sports (Fall and Spring). While Whitfield County provides a basic supplement to assist with these purchases, this supplement is the same monetary amount for every Community. This supplement is the same monetary amount for communities which have 100 youth participating in their program as Westside, which typically has more than 300 youth involved in youth athletics. The WSYAA depends on these membership dues to ensure it has enough equipment to supply teams with basic equipment needs. During the Fall Athletic Season, the Association was required to purchase more than $5000 in equipment in order to fulfill higher demand for fall Sports activities. WSYAA Membership also allows members active participation in organization efforts for the Westside Fields project. Monthly Association meetings are held to discuss current progress, future direction, and association needs.
