| Building a Page for Your TeamThe Westside Athletic Association encourages youth to play together as a team for as many years as they choose. Children build lifelong friendships with teammates that they play with for several years, and coaches have the opportunity to build on what they teach year after year. However, when team members change year after year, it makes the teaching and team building process more difficult. Building a team page is one of the easiest ways to build team unity and ensure that parents ask to be on the same team year after year. The Westside Cubs web site shows some of the same boys over several years as they have grown and matured. The team web site has created excitement about the team and has ensured that the boys request to be on the Cubs year after year. The Cubs have even had requests from parents of Dug gap and Valley Point parents who wanted to move their boys to the Westside association to play for the Cubs. Each year the Cubs are overwhelmed with requests from other Westside boys who want to play for the Cubs. The web site is a primary reason for these requests. The WSYAA Web Site will make this possible for each team that wants to have their own website, but each team is responsible for their own content. Building a page for your team is a simple process. Simply use Microsoft Word to write your content and insert your images into the page. Email this word document as an attachment to teaminfo@wsyaa.com and we'll do the rest. One very important item for all teams, however. In sending updates, make sure you send very specific information on the team name with each update in the subject line of the email. With so many Westside Teams, it is difficult for us to differentiate. Inserting Images
Updating your PagesIf you plan to perform regular updates to your pages for game-by-game summaries etc., it's best to use one file throughout the season and add updates at the bottom and submit this file with each update. Individual Player PhotosIf you want to include a page that has an individual picture for each player, this is easily accomplished by building a two-column table. The player image is placed in one column and player name etc is place in the other column. like this
Practice/Game CalendarPractice and Game Calendars also can be built using a table. Simply use 7 columns and 4-5 rows. Use the same file on your computer all year and update this file. Send this file as an attachment. Below is a team calendar example: (We have made this much easier with an online calendar that you can open the link below, fill in the calendar, and save the file to your computer as a Microsoft word document. This file can be emailed to WSYAA and uploaded in this format. This calendar also can be printed and distributed to parents for practice and game schedules. This completed file (once uploaded) will be stored on the WSYAA Website for any parent or out-of-town grandparent to click on the file and print as many copies as they like from the website- 2008 Calendar -- 2009 Calendar ) Example of finished calendar for printing.
